Description

The Bagnacavallo watermelon is a magnificent old variety with pink flesh and delicate flavor and inverted colors, the skin is light and the stripes are dark.
The seeds are large and creamy white when ripe. The average weight of the fruit varies from 8 to 14 kg.
The Bagnacavallo watermelon was a very common variety a few decades ago, saved in Canada by immigrants from Romagna. A selection work carried out by an Italian seed company and the Research Center on Vegetable Production in Cesena, has allowed to recover the characteristics and purity of this old variety. Registered on the "d" list, it is now again produced and marketed on some Italian markets.

The fruits of the Bagnacavallo watermelon reach maturity in mid-July by forcing and in August in the open field.
